Arizona UCEDD - The Institute for Human Development

  • Minor in Disability StudiesThe minor will challenge students to examine their perception of disabled persons, and think critically about the ways in which disabled persons have experienced inequality and oppression.
  • AZLEND The purpose of The University of Arizona LEND (AZLEND) training program is to produce leaders and innovators in the field of autism and other neurodevelopmental and related disabilities who are solidly grounded in their own disciplines and able to work collaboratively with colleagues in interdisciplinary settings, and to prepare fellows to anticipate, manage, and take advantage of changes in knowledge and health care delivery systems. 

Sonoran AZ UCEDD - Sonoran UCEDD, University of Arizona

  • Interdisciplinary Training Program  The fundamental objective of the Sonoran UCEDD Interprofessional Training Program at the University of Arizona is to prepare students from a variety of disciplines to become leaders and advocates in the disability field with an understanding of principles of self-determination and meaningful community inclusion for all people with disabilities.
  • Student & Professional Education The Sonoran UCEDD provides other opportunities to engage students and professionals in further learning about disability through course work and seminars.

Colorado UCEDD - JFK Partners, University of Colorado School of Medicine

  • Interdisciplinary Training Program  – JFK Partners prepares multi-disciplinary professionals and family members of individuals with disabilities for leadership roles serving people with neurodevelopmental and related disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorders. In addition to traditional healthcare and public health professionals and families, training opportunities are available to non-traditional disciplines to increase the interdisciplinary depth of the program (i.e., pastoral and architecture students have participated in the program).
  • JFK Partners is home to the Colorado Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) Program and as a School of Medicine program, fellows participate in select courses and seminars with fellows of the MCHB-funded Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) Training Program. A special feature of the program is the APTA-approved Pediatric Physical Therapy Residency Program offered by JFK Partners in collaboration with the University of Colorado Physical Therapy Program. The Anschutz Medical Campus, a hub for the Rocky Mountain region, is an environment rich in state-of-the art facilities and clinical sites. The campus, combined with a substantial and varied community-based network of services and agencies, offers ample opportunities for diversified educational and practical experiences.

Florida UCEDD - Florida Center for Inclusive Communities

  • Interdisciplinary Training Program  One of the missions of FCIC and UCEDDs is to expand and influence higher education curriculum to impart knowledge on developmental disabilities to accomplish a shared vision of ensuring that all Americans, including Americans with developmental disabilities, participate fully in their communities. Independence, productivity, and community inclusion are key components of this vision. FCIC offers interdisciplinary training programs and activities that provide opportunities for students and professionals to learn more about how to promote the full inclusion and support of individuals with developmental disabilities within community through a core curriculum.

Illinois UCEDD - The Institute on Disability and Human Development

  • IDHD/DHD has graduate degree programs that prepare students for leadership positions in human services as well as research and scholarship roles in the disability field. We also offer programs in continuing education.

Iowa UCEDD - The Center for Disabilities and Development 

  • Pre-Service Training at the Center for Disabilities and Development (IO UCEDD) educates more than one hundred UCEDD trainees each year from disciplines that include Medicine, Audiology, Dentistry, Education, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Psychiatry, Psychology, Public Health, Social Work and Speech/Language Pathology.

Maine UCEDD - The University of Maine Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies

  • Online Graduate Certificate in Interdisciplinary Disability Studies  The University of Maine Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies offers a progressive 12-credit Graduate Certificate in Interdisciplinary Disability Studies. Four online asynchronous courses examine disability theory, policy, and practices that address disability needs, rights and interventions. The Certificate provides a valuable credential for those currently working in direct services (i.e., rehabilitation, nursing, social work or education); the creation of accessible environments and products (web designer, landscape architect, or engineer); or those interested in or involved with disability and human rights policy.
  • Graduate Specialization in Interdisciplinary Disability Studies  The University of Maine Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies offers a Graduate Specialization in Interdisciplinary Disability Studies in conjunction with several master's degree programs at the University of Maine, or in conjunction with the Interdisciplinary Ph.D., the individually designed Ed.D., and other doctoral programs throughout the university. Students examine a range of issues confronting local, state, national, and global communities in which people with disabilities live.
  • Minor in Interdisciplinary Disability Studies  The University of Maine Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies, in conjunction with faculty representatives from 14 academic departments, offers a 24-credit Minor in Interdisciplinary Disability Studies. Students explore disability within the larger context of diversity and examine professional practice, scholarship and policy related to persons with disabilities.
  • New Hampshire Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Program Partnership  In 2011, the University of Maine Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies joined the University of New Hampshire Institute on Disability, and the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth as a partner in the New Hampshire Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (NH LEND) Program. The LEND Program provides graduate level interdisciplinary training for students and professionals from diverse disciplines. Program activities include leadership development, clinical training, continuing education/technical assistance, research, and cultural competency field work.
  • Early Childhood Opportunities (EChO) Scholars  The University of Maine Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies and the College of Education and Human Development are collaborating on a four-year U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) funded project to support the preparation of highly qualified early intervention professionals serving children with disabilities in Maine.

Nebraska UCEDD - Munroe-Meyer Institute

  • Interdisciplinary Training Opportunities The Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation (MMI) offers interdisciplinary training opportunities in a variety of disciplines for both the public and professionals. Professional training for undergraduates, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows provide practitioners and scientists with the latest knowledge obtained through scientific and clinical research to help students become future leaders in their fields. Our interdisciplinary education curriculum prepares students for the real-world responsibilities through leadership development, practical research and hands-on experience.

New Jersey UCEDD - The Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities

  • Interdisciplinary Traineeship The Boggs Center is proud to offer students of accredited colleges and universities a unique learning opportunity called a Traineeship. A traineeship is similar to an internship or field education opportunity, providing students with a structured learning experience. The Boggs Center’s Interdisciplinary Traineeship affords students hands-on experience in a variety of disability-specific projects as well as the chance to attend various training classes, seminars and professional development workshops. The traineeship orients its learning opportunities toward developing leadership and vision in the field of developmental disabilities. Each trainee is matched with a Boggs Center mentor who helps to guide the student’s activities and provides feedback. During the course of the traineeship, student trainees create an individualized project in an area of their interest with the goal of contributing something unique to the field of developmental disabilities. Beyond the individual project, trainees are also afforded frequent opportunities to collaborate with Boggs Center staff and leaders in the disciplines of health and human services on a variety of important projects.

WIHD NY UCEDD - Westchester Institute for Human Development

  • LEND Training Program The LEND Program at Westchester Institute for Human Development UCEDD is a two-semester leadership training program for those who want to take the next step in developing the skills (advocacy/policy, clinical, research, teaching) required for a leadership role in a career focused on children with disabilities and other special health care needs and their families. The curriculum includes three didactic overview courses, clinical and practicum experiences at WIHD and in the community, and various leadership and public policy activities. Many trainees complete the LEND program as a component of full-time training associated with graduate or post-graduate study.

Oregon UCEDD - Oregon Health & Science University

  • UCEDD Summer Youth Program The University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) Summer Youth Program provides a unique opportunity for high school and undergraduate students interested in pursuing healthcare-related careers.
  • OHSU-PSU Joint Programs in Public Health Building on the success of the Oregon Masters of Public Health (OMPH) program, OHSU and PSU are working together to collaboratively establish a School of Public Health. The interim stage of this collaboration-while Council on Education in Public Health (CEPH) "school" accreditation is pursued-is the OHSU-PSU Joint Programs in Public Health. 
  • OHSU LEND Program The OHSU LEND Program at the Institute on Development & Disabilities, provides training to individuals from a variety of disciplines.  These practicing professionals, graduate students, and parents all participate in a long-term, graduate level interdisciplinary training and work to provide interdisciplinary service and care to patients and families within the Child Development & Rehabilitation Center. 

Pennsylvania UCEDD - Institute on Disabilities at Temple University 

  • Graduate Certificate in Disablities Studies The Graduate Certificate in Disability Studies at Temple University offers students an interdisciplinary approach to learning. Through their engagement with faculty in the social sciences, health science, and humanities, students learn to see disability from a variety of critical perspectives.
  • Disability and Change Symposium The 2014 symposium hosted by the Interdisciplinary Faculty Council on Disability at Temple University will investigate disability and change. The theme will invite speakers examining practical, philosophical, and historical issues that hinge on the idea of in-betweenness, fluidity, and movement between spaces, places, and ways of being.
  • Competence and Confidence: Partners in Policymaking  Modeled after Minnesota's Partners in Policymaking, Competence and Confidence: Partners in Policymaking (C2P2) is a leadership development training program designed for individuals with disabilities, parents of young children with disabilities and university graduate students. C2P2 provides up-to-date information, leadership training and skill building. National and local experts teach participants about the local, state and national issues that affect individuals with disabilities.

South Dakota  UCEDD / LEND - Center for Disabilities

Tennesee UCEDD -  The Boling Center for Developmental Disabilities 

  • The Boling Center for Developmental Disabilities is an interdisciplinary program that supports children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families through training, service, applied research, information dissemination, planning, and policy development.

Vermont UCEDD - Center on Disability and Community Inclusion

  • CDCI Learning Center: This site collects information on all of our Academic Programs, Courses, Workshops, Webinars, and Training Events.

Wyoming UCEDD - Wyoming Institute for Disabilities

  • Disability Studies Minor at Wyoming Institute for Disabilities. The undergraduate minor in Disability Studies examines disability issues from multiple lenses. Social sciences perspectives center upon issues of equal rights, social justice, access to education, supports and services, health care, and policy issues affecting the lives of people with disabilities.
