Limited Competition to Develop a BrainSpan RNA-seq Browser (R24)

Submission Date: March 28, 2014

Award Ceiling: $750,000

This limited competition Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) seeks Resource Related Research (R24) application(s) to develop sophisticated, user-friendly, comprehensive RNA-sequence (RNA-seq) browser technology for use with NIMH-supported BrainSpan data available through the Allen Institute for Brain Sciences (http://www.brainspan.org/). These data were generated under an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 award to create a transcriptional atlas of human brain development. The BrainSpan atlas is designed to provide a valuable public resource for neuroscientists, educators and medical communities for identifying gene expression patterns associated with various stages of normal human brain development and to drive translational research into human brain disorders. Making these data readily available by an easy to use RNA-seq browser will ensure broad participation of the neuroscience community to explore this content rich dataset on the developing human brain.
