In Memoriam: Roz Parrish, MSN

December 3, 2012

Roz Parrish, MSN, Associate Director of the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (LEND) Program at the University of Cincinnati UCEDD (University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities) and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, passed away on December 3. She died peacefully at Hospice of Cincinnati, surrounded by family.

For more than 40 years, Roz has been at the heart of interdisciplinary training at the Cincinnati UCEDD and LEND Program. Roz's work in interdisciplinary pre-service training changed the lives of countless trainees, professionals, family members and individuals with disabilities in Cincinnati and around the country. Her work impacted local, regional, and national stakeholders in the field of developmental disabilities. Both the AUCD network and the Cincinnati UCEDD and LEND benefited immensely from Roz's work and dedication to the mission of AUCD.

Roz's passing was marked privately by her family. The UCEDD/LEND will later announce how they will be memorializing her at the center and program.

Although the passing of our dear colleague greatly saddens the AUCD family, Roz truly lives on through the impact of decades of her dedicated effort in building our programs. Roz's influence is woven into the fabric of our training programs; current and future trainees will continue to experience elements of the programs that are uniquely Roz's.

AUCD joins Karen Edwards MD, MPH, the director of the Cincinnati LEND and UCEDD; the staff of the LEND and UCEDD; and the entire network in sending our deepest condolences to Roz's family.
