Seven pre-conference workshops are offered at this year's AUCD Conference. Held on Sunday, these interactive sessions are conducted by experts in the field and designed to provide attendees with in-depth instruction into a new skill, policy, or strategy. With a topic for everyone, participants will walk away from the session with tools and ideas that can immediately be implemented at their organization. Seats are limited to ensure personalized learning for all.

   9:00-11:30am

1. Telehealth and Related Health Technologies for Behavioral and Mental Health: A Game Changer for Your Center
   This workshop will offer an exceptional opportunity for participants to both experience how technologies can supplement disability health services (citing example case studies including autism diagnostics and treatment) while broadening a center's ability to train and supervise its staff & stakeholders - even when they all may be in disparate locations.
2. Visual Analytics: New Tools for Gaining Insight from Your Data
   Interactive information visualization tools provide researchers and practitioners with remarkable capabilities to support discovery, reveal unexpected insights into collected information, and reveal patterns and connections.
   
3. Mobile Me: Low-cost/No-cost Tools for Organizing Your Digital Life
   We'll show examples of tools that are used to create, store, and share documents on-the-go; manage time and schedules; organize personal thoughts and web resources; and promote and enhance collaboration. Each attendee will leave with a handout identifying the tool, its uses, the time needed to learn to use it, and any special considerations.
4. Bridging Aging and Developmental Disabilities: UCEDD Opportunities for State-wide Collaborations
   The new Administration on Community Living provides new opportunities for collaborations between the aging and disability networks. This workshop will address key strategies for engaging UCEDDS in activities that support state and local level cross-network activities.

5. Mentoring: A Key Approach to Increase Diversity Among Students and Junior Faculty from  Underrepresented Racial and Ethnic Groups
   Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences, respond to a series of self-reflection questions, and develop a personal plan of action to incorporate mentoring policy and practice within their universities and other program settings.
   
6. Strategies and Principles in Creating Fundable Grant Proposals
   This workshop focuses on a self-instructional grant writing module for use by advanced trainees, post-doctoral fellows and early career professionals who wish to acquire grant writing skills and knowledge. Each workshop participant will receive a copy of the module as part of registration for this workshop.
   
7. Essential Clinical Genetics for LEND and UCEDD Programs
   Through the use of active learning strategies and contextualized learning through case-based discussions, participants will learn the genetic concepts and principles that will help them provide better care to individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families. Participants will also have an opportunity to discuss how content from the workshop could be incorporated into their local LEND or UCEDD program.
