Amid ongoing state budget pressures, a requirement in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that states maintain eligibility in Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Programs was central in preserving coverage during 2011. In addition, more than half of states (29) made improvements in their programs, according to a new survey released today by the Kaiser Family Foundation's Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured (KCMU). The 11th annual 50-state survey, conducted with the Georgetown University Center for Children and Families, provides 2012 data on Medicaid and CHIP eligibility, enrollment, renewal, and cost sharing policies for children, pregnant women, parents, and other non-disabled adults and identifies policy changes during 2011.
