The AUCD Special Recognition Award is presented to an Association member or group, or to an individual, group, or organization outside of the AUCD, to recognize outstanding contributions toward creating more inclusive communities for people with developmental disabilities and their families.

Kim E. Musheno

Legislative Director, Association of University Centers on Disabilities

In appreciation of your steadfast advocacy and tireless efforts on behalf of children and adults with disabilities, their families, and the AUCD Network.

Kim has formed a cohesive and highly effective team for legislative affairs at AUCD, developed key relationships with Congressional members and their staff, provided leadership to other disability organizations through the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities and led AUCD network member groups focused on a wide range of disability policy issues. Her knowledge, demeanor and tireless efforts are acknowledged by colleagues, Hill staff and AUCD network members across the country. She brings to every issue a genuine caring for the individuals that are impacted and an in-depth understanding of the need for collaboration and consensus building in the policy development process. The AUCD network is very fortunate to have such an outstanding advocate representing them in Washington.
