Dr. Pasquale Accardo Takes Lead of VA-LEND

The Va-LEND program is pleased to announce that Dr. Pasquale Accardo will become its interim director as Dr. Joann Bodurtha moves from Virginia Commonwealth University to the Institute of Genetic Medicine at Johns Hopkins.

Dr. Accardo is an internationally recognized developmental pediatrician who served as the Director of the Westchester LEND from 1996-2002. He is boarded in both Neurodevelopmental Disabilities and Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics and received the Arnold J. Capute Award from the Council on Children with Disabilities of the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2005.  He is the James H. Franklin Professor of Developmental Research in Pediatrics at Virginia Commonwealth University, a member of the Academy of Pediatrics Council on Developmental Disabilities, and a prolific author, including editing the two-volume Capute and Accardo's Neurodevelopmental Disabilities in Infancy and Childhood.

Dr. Bodurtha is deeply grateful to the LEND family, AUCD, and MCHB for all she has learned over the past seventeen years. She hopes to continue to contribute to genetic services and education and life course collaboration.
