Individualized Supports Film Receives Two Awards (MN ICI, UCEDD/LEND)

The Institute's Jerry Smith has received two awards for the film, "We Have Choices," a documentary about individuals with developmental disabilities across New York state who have used individualized supports in taking greater control of their lives. Jerry, of RTC Media, the video production arm of the Institute, produced the film in collaboration with the Self-Advocacy Association of New York State. In April, the film was awarded a Silver Telly, the highest honor from the Silver Telly Council, a judging and oversight body that receives over 13,000 competition entries from around the world every year. In May, the film received a second award, this time a Platinum Award at the 2011 Hermes Creative Awards (another international competition), in the documentary category.
