2011 Autism Research Projects
Through support from the Combating Autism Act of 2006, the MCH Research Program supports research networks and research projects on evidence-based practices for interventions to improve the health and well-being of children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and other developmental disabilities (DD). Currently supported projects include 2 Autism Intervention Research Networks, 1 Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics Research Network, 12 autism intervention research grants, and 5 one-year secondary data analysis studies. Descriptions of these projects are included in the attachment at right.

- R40 MCH Autism Intervention Research Program will support up to four (4) three-year research
projects ($300,000 per year) on evidence-based practices for interventions to improve the health and
well-being of children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and other developmental
disabilities. - R40 MCH Autism Intervention Secondary Data Analysis Studies (SDAS) Program will support up
to four (4) one-year projects ($100,000) that utilize exclusively the analysis of existing secondary data.
Studies in the areas of autism prevalence, factors associated with prevalence, or autism and medical
home will not be considered for funding under this competition. Innovative selection and use of
secondary datasets from a variety of sources is encouraged when applying for the SDAS competition.
