2010 AUCD Network Report

This report provides an overview of the activities of the membership of the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) and of the AUCD Central Office over the fiscal year, covering July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010. Despite the economic challenges that we all face nationally and in our individual states, the network had a productive and noteworthy year. Interdisciplinary training, research, and technical assistance activities grew, even in this challenging environment.
These difficult economic times challenge all of us to work smarter, to look for additional opportunities, and to engage new partners in innovative ways to promote the full participation of people with developmental and other disabilities in the social and economic fabric of our country. As we weather this economic downturn, our combined efforts will set the foundation for future growth and for making a significant impact, as we continue to address the challenges facing persons with disabilities, their families, and communities and those who work on their behalf.
The AUCD network report highlights many of our collective accomplishments and efforts of the past year, including our collaborations with thousands of individuals and their families and our partner organizations that leverage and extend the efforts of the network throughout our respective states and nationally.
We offer our gratitude to all of the individuals with disabilities, families, community partners, staff, faculty, and administrators who have played such an important role in making these accomplishments possible. We also acknowledge our appreciation for our funding partners at federal and state levels, foundations, and private individuals who support our work and make much of it possible. Without the combined effort of so many varied and valued stakeholders, the achievements summarized in this report would not be possible. Whether an individual with a disability, family member, director, researcher, or student trainee-we all play critical roles in contributing to the accomplishments of the network and in facing the challenges ahead.
We welcome your feedback about the work of the AUCD network and hope that the work of the last year positions us for even greater contributions in the coming year.
