Tom Fish, director of Social Work and Family Support Services at The Ohio State University Nisonger Center, received a Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities 2010 Community Star Award for Support Services. Fish retired in June after 31 years but continues to work part-time. Ed Sterling, director of Nisonger Center's Dental Program for 39 years, received a surprise Community Star Award in honor of his pending retirement in December. The program has served more than 10,000 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and offers training to all dental students and dental hygiene students coming out of Ohio State's College of Dentistry.

The awards recognize individuals who have made outstanding efforts to help the Franklin County Board achieve its mission of serving persons with developmental disabilities. Both awards were presented at a Nov. 3 banquet in Columbus, Ohio.
