Judith Holt, PhD (UT LEND/UCEDD) Receives Life Time Service Award from Brain Injury Assn of Utah

Dr. Judith Holt has been awarded the Life Time Service Award at the Brain Injury Association of Utah's Annual Conference on October 5, 2010.

Since 2001, Dr. Holt has directed Utah State University's portion of four Traumatic Brain Injury grants in the state of Utah.

Based on this effort, the Utah State TBI Advisory Board identified best practices for case management, social/recreational activities for individuals, use and availability of assistive technology devices, and transition planning. It also developed the Utah TBI Community Workgroup Action Plan to help Utah create a community-based system of care to addresses the needs of individuals with TBI and their family members.

Dr. Holt was honored for improving services for children, youth, and adults with disabilities and their families. Throughout her career, she has been a strong advocate for consumer direction. She is a skilled designer and implementer of support systems.

She has been at the CPD since 2000, when she was appointed director of the Interdisciplinary Training Division at the Center for Persons with Disabilities. She also serves as the Co-Director for the Utah Regional Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (URLEND). She is an associate professor for the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation Services at Utah State University and an adjunct professor for the Department of Pediatrics with the University of Utah Medical School Health Sciences Center.
