Affordable Care Act: Six Month Anniversary

September 23, 2010

September 23, 2010, is the six month anniversary of the passage of the Affordable Care Act. This anniversary marks a major breakthrough for America's health care system as several important consumer protections take effect that will have a significant impact on people with disabilities and their families. Beginning on September 23, the implementation of the Patient's Bill of Rights begins, which includes protections for consumers with pre-existing conditions against denial of coverage from insurance companies as well as eliminating annual and lifetime health care limits so families will be protected against high out-of-pocket costs.
