Karen Edwards, MD, MPH Assumes the Role of LEND Director at CCHMC

Karen Edwards, MD, MPH joined the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center as Director of Training and Director of the LEND Training Program in July 2010.  Dr. Edwards was the Director of the LEND Program and Director of Education and Training at the Westchester Institute for Human Development (WIHD) in Westchester, NY.

Since joining WIHD in 2001, Dr. Edwards has further developed the partnership between WIHD and the School of Health Science and Practice at New York Medical College.  She led the development of the LEND Advocacy and Policy Curriculum, the fifteen credit graduate certificate program in the New York Medical College School of Health Sciences and Practice (SHSP) for students enrolled in the LEND Program, and the incorporation of distance learning methods to include graduate students at the University of Puerto Rico as LEND trainees.   In addition, she has directed a distance learning project, the Leadership Education and Developmental Disabilities (LEADD), for MCH professionals from the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Sonya Oppenheimer, MD is the current Director of the LEND Training Program at CCHMC and will remain actively involved in the LEND Training Program (continuing to provide clinical training) and Roz Parrish, MSN will continue as LEND Training Coordinator.  Dr. Edwards' addition will allow CCHMC to enhance further the LEND Training Program and UCEDD, while also providing additional leadership around training activities throughout the division.
