The 10th Anniversary of the International Newborn Hearing Screening (NHS) Conference was held in June 2010 in Cernobbio, Italy. The theme of this year's conference was Beyond Newborn Hearing Screening: Infant and Childhood Hearing in Science and Clinical Practice.  Approximately 500 delegates from 60 countries attended.  

Several AUCD members and partners presented at the conference.  Anne Marie Tharpe, PhD (Vanderbilt Kennedy Center: TN UCEDD/LEND), hosted the Widex Special Event, "Mild hearing loss in childhood - consequences and intervention strategies."  Diane Sabo, PhD (The UCLID Center at the University of Pittsburgh: PA LEND), and colleagues presented, "The Newborn Hearing Screening Training Curriculum."  Melody Harrison, PhD, and Patricia Roush, AuD (Center for Development and Learning at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill: NC UCEDD/LEND), presented "Outcomes of children with mild to severe hearing loss: A longitudinal multi-center study."  Neil Scharpe, MS SpEd, (North Dakota Center for Persons with Disabilities: ND UCEDD), "TeleAudiology Taking Diagnostics to the Infant."

The LEND Pediatric Audiology Training Program was the topic of a presentation in the "Professional Training and Support" Panel.  Irene Forsman, MS, RN (MCHB/HRSA), Diane Sabo, PhD (The UCLID Center at the University of Pittsburgh: PA LEND), and Katy Beggs, PsyD (AUCD), presented, "The Compelling Need for Pediatric Audiology Training Emphasizing Family-Centered Care, Leadership Skills, and Interdisciplinary Collaboration."
