CAHMI Call for Input: 2011 National Survey of Children's Health

January 13, 2010

The Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) and the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) are preparing to revise the National Survey of Children's Health (NSCH) instrument for a third round of data collection.  They need your input to inform MCHB and NCHS staff, as well as a technical expert panel, during the planning process.

For reference, the chartbook produced from the 2007 NSCH can be found on the MCHB website at: http://mchb.hrsa.gov/nsch07/index.html

Further survey documentation can be found at: http://nschdata.org/Content/LearnAboutTheSurvey.aspx

We would appreciate your answers to the following questions:

1.    What are three ways the NSCH could be improved to make it more useful to your work?

2.    What are three topics you feel are missing from the NSCH?

3.    Which, if any, items from the NSCH could be removed?

4.    Which, if any, items from the NSCH are problematic?

5.    Do you have any other comments or suggestions for us to consider as we revise the NSCH?

In addition, the Data Resource Center provides technical assistance and easy access to the 2007 NSCH data at http://nschdata.org/DataQuery/SurveyAreas.aspx?yid=2.

6.     Are there one or two things that the Data Resource Center could do to support your use and interpretation of the data?

You may send your response to [email protected] no later than 5:00 PM Pacific Time on Friday, January 15, 2010.

This message is being sent to members of numerous organizations, and you may receive it more than once.  We apologize in advance for any cross-postings.
