As part of AUCD's initiative to increase trainee involvement
across the network and build future leaders,
AUCD is seeking the next Virtual Trainee!

The AUCD Virtual Trainee will use leadership skills to build relationships and communications among trainees throughout the nationwide AUCD network of UCEDDs and LENDs.

Qualifications:

    • Be an AUCD trainee in the coming academic year
    • Have the ability to work remotely from his/her home UCEDD/LEND
    • Have prior knowledge of the UCEDD and LEND networks
    • Desire to learn about the AUCD network of UCEDDs and LENDs
    • Have an interest in national issues related to persons with disabilities and special health care needs
    • Have working knowledge of virtual communication technologies
    • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills
    • Be able to work independently

The AUCD Virtual Trainee will enhance the AUCD trainee network of over 4,000 trainees per year.

Duties include:

    • Utilizing virtual technologies to generate interest and knowledge. Possibilities include Facebook's "AUCD Trainees" group, Listserve, website, Blogs, and webinars
    • Assisting with direct communication to trainees and the network at large through face to face meetings, formal trainee sessions and informal trainee activities at AUCD gatherings, and regular submissions to network newsletters.
    • Working with AUCD leaders at Directors Meetings and the National Training Directors Council
    • Generating new ideas for effective communication and connections among the network
    • Completing all activities and reports requested by AUCD staff in a timely manner

AUCD staff will work closely with the virtual trainee and his/her local staff mentor or Director.  AUCD will also support the virtual trainee to attend the AUCD Annual Meeting and the Spring Disability Policy Seminar in Washington, D.C., paying transportation, lodging, and registration costs. The Virtual Trainee will receive a $500 stipend per semester from AUCD, with an option to extend through the summer. This position is expected to take approximately 4 hours per week.

This is an exciting opportunity for a current trainee with experience to increase his/her knowledge of the national network and learn more about national level activities and initiatives. It is also an opportunity to exercise leadership on a national level within the AUCD network. Directors and Faculty are urged to encourage trainees to apply for this opportunity and to allow the selected trainee to use this internship as his/her leadership activity for the coming year.
