Interdisciplinary Certificate Program in Disability Studies

Description: The Institute for Human Development (IHD), Arizona's University Affiliated Program, has instituted a free standing University-approved Graduate Interdisciplinary Certificate Program in Disability Studies. The Certificate is designed to prepare students from a variety of disciplines to enter the public and private fields of disabilities. The course of studies prepares students to work with individuals with disabilities and their families across the life-span in educational, residential, employment, recreational, and day program settings.
Program Design: The Graduate Certificate Program is composed of four major content areas: Disability Core, Interdisciplinary Seminar, Fieldwork/Practicum/Internship activities, and Independent/Research/Thesis Study activities. Students enrolling in this certificate program will complete 12-15 hours of training coordinated between the major discipline and the IHD.
Targeted Students: Graduate Student from Public Health, Special Education, General Education, School Psychology, Speech Pathology, Physical Therapy, Health Psychology, Nursing, Dental Hygiene, etc.
