Shannon J. Grant Caldwell of the Interdisciplinary Human Development Institute, University of Kentucky received the 2008 Leadership in Advocacy Award at the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) Annual Meeting and Conference.
The award is presented to an outstanding individual or family member who has exhibited exceptional leadership and self-advocacy skills in the area of developmental disabilities.
Wrote his nominator, "He has contributed very significantly to projects designed to enhance the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, and has modeled the importance of self-advocacy throughout his life. There are numerous illustrations of both the breadth and impact of his efforts to truly make a difference in the lives of individuals with deaf-blindness and other developmental disabilities. Shannon Caldwell's life is a portrait in Leadership in Advocacy."
