Vanderbilt Kennedy Center (VKC TN UCEDD) Accessibility Project Replication Manual Now Available

September 25, 2008

The Access Nashville Replication Manual: Creating an Accessibility Project in Your Community, based on the Access Nashville project, provides assistance to nonprofit organizations across the country in developing low-cost projects to evaluate restaurant accessibility. "The goal of Access Nashville is to gather and disseminate ‘accessibility-friendly' information about restaurants so that individuals with disabilities can make informed choices about dining out in their community," said Carole Moore-Slater, program director of Access Nashville and Tennessee Disability Pathfinder. The goal is accomplished through an accessibility training program that takes place in college classrooms and with the volunteer assistance of trained students who survey designated restaurants. With guidance from Moore-Slater, the replication manual was written and assembled by Ellen Gayeski, a recent VKC UCEDD trainee and Vanderbilt University graduate.
