Legislative Goals for the Second Session of 110th Congress; developed by AUCD, The Arc, UCP, AAIDD, ANCOR, and NACDD

January 30, 2008

The Arc of the United States, United Cerebral Palsy, AAIDD, ANCOR and AUCD are national organizations that serve and advocate for people with intellectual, developmental and other disabilities. We work together to shape, expand and protect a strong federal role that provides vital benefits, services and supports for our constituency. While the United States is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, our nation is far from meeting the diverse needs of our constituents and their families, many of whom find their lives at stake as the federal role in disability policy is being addressed.

The Second Session of the 110th Congress faces numerous disability policy challenges. Even if this Congress does not act on the major issues, this document conveys our positions on those major issues that should be addressed in this Congress.

All of these goals are of vital importance to millions of Americans. Following are the critical and priority legislative goals of The Arc, United Cerebral Palsy, AAIDD, ANCOR and AUCD for the Second Session of the 110th Congress.
