John Kramer, MA, receives AUCD Award

November 14, 2007, Washington, DC: John Kramer, MA, of the Institute on Disability and Human Development, University of Illinois at Chicago received the 2007 Anne Rudigier Award today at the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) Annual Meeting and Conference.

The award is presented by the Rudigier Family to commemorate the accomplishments and commitment of their daughter Anne, this award recognizes an outstanding student demonstrating a commitment to supporting people with developmental disabilities and their families.

Mr. Kramer brings considerable passion and sensitivity to his work in disabilities. He is both an excellent student and strong advocate for people with disabilities. This has been fueled by his close relationship with two brothers who have a disability. John brings a creative approach to studying the issues of sibling relationships between brothers and sisters with and without disabilities. His dissertation research incorporates a disability studies approach to this issue by examining the perspective of the disabled sibling rather than only studying the perspective of the non-disabled sibling as all the previous research has done. John enthusiasm for the field of disabilities is infectious. He brings dedication to this work and creative energies.
