Brad Linnenkamp awarded 2007 Leadership in Advocacy Award

November 14, 2007, Washington, DC: Brad Linnenkamp, of the Self-Advocated Coalition of Kansas received the 2007 Leadership in Advocacy Award today at the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) Annual Meeting and Conference.

The award is presented to an outstanding individual or family member who has exhibited exceptional leadership and self-advocacy skills in the area of developmental disabilities.

Mr. Linnenkamp exemplifies the characteristics of a true leader in the advocacy movement for people with developmental disabilities. Brad only sees the possibilities in life and not the obstacles. His vision and optimism serve as an outstanding model for all of us. Brad has a talent for encouraging participation and making people think. The breadth of Brad’s efforts to broaden the perspective of the community is boundless.

Established in 1971, AUCD is a membership organization comprised of three national networks of interdisciplinary, university-based Centers dedicated to research, education, leadership training, policy development, and direct service for people with disabilities.
