In August of 2007, the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) released a new reference guide outlining legal requirements and standards relating to access for people with disabilities. The guide is a first in a series of disability- related guidelines to be produced by FEMA for disaster preparedness, response planners, and service providers at all levels.
