Bold Beauty Project Hosts its First College Edition at the University of Miami

May 10, 2022

The Bold Beauty Project, founded by the Mailman Center for Child Development’s Leadership Training Initiatives Director Shelly Baer, LCSW, hosted its first college edition exhibition at the University of Miami on March 27th. The event was held in collaboration with the University of Miami chapter of Girl Up, an international United Nations Foundation organization that seeks to empower at-risk girls around the world.

Bold Beauty: College Edition highlighted a number of college women from across the country. Each participated in a photo shoot, shared their stories of living with a disability, and reflected on the featured photos.

The Bold Beauty Project is a powerful visual arts exhibition that celebrates women with varying disabilities. Its creative, large-scale photographs, portrayed by award-winning photographers, coupled with the women’s personal stories, create a vivid and intimate portrait of women with disabilities today. The photos invigorate the current social movement for diversity and inclusion and serve to reimagine beauty in our world.

Since its founding in 2006, the Bold Beauty Project has hosted shows in numerous cities across the United States and internationally.
