Engaging Young Adults with IDD-MH and Researchers in Comparative Effectiveness Research

February 4, 2022

The Center for START Services is proud to announce the launch of a new website that can support meaningful partnerships between people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and mental health service experiences (IDD-MH), family members, mental health providers, and researchers. View the website to learn more.

The website is organized around four guiding principles:

  • Preventing harm in IDD-MH research and practice
  • Meaningful involvement of persons with IDD-MH and families in all aspects of research
  • Teams are stronger when people use their individual strengths
  • Research always takes place in a cultural context

This project was a collaboration with Dr. Jessica Kramer (University of Florida), Dr. Joan B. Beasley (National Center for START Services), Professor Tawara D. Goode (National Center for Cultural Competence at Georgetown University), Micah Peace (Advocate, Educator), and Destiny Watkins (Advocate/Self-Advocate).
