CAC Chair Receives Wisconsin Diehard Award

November 17, 2021

Maria Nogueron, the Waisman Center's Constituent Advisory Committee (CAC) Chair from 2015-2021, was awarded the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities Diehard Award in October.

The Diehard award is presented to a grassroots advocate or self-advocate who has made a significant contribution to advocacy work in Wisconsin. A diehard is a person with a steadfast commitment to the principles of community integration and self-determination. This award honors some of the most extraordinary advocates in Wisconsin for their outstanding contributions. Maria is a parent advocate who has worked tirelessly to improve the life of her own family and families across Wisconsin. She advocates for Latinx families and is determined that they be heard, included and respected.

On top of all of that, she is a scientist, teacher, LEND graduate, gifted interpreter, and tireless advocate for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
