AUCD Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Hub

AUCD is excited to launch the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Hub. This new hub expands the former Diversity & Inclusion Toolkit, to now host a broad array of existing resources related to equity, diversity, inclusion, and cultural and linguistic competence. The hub includes a new Resource Crosswalk as well as episodes from AUCD's new podcast, AUCD Network Narratives: Real Stories from our Members. Read more...

State and Territorial Act Early/COVID-19 Response Teams Receive a Second Year of Funding to Support Early Childhood Systems

U.S Department of Health and Human ServicesState and Territorial Act Early/COVID-19 Response Teams have been awarded a second year of funding for the grant opportunity for Support for Early Childhood State Systems through the Act Early Network. University of Miami Audiology Professionals Recognized by American Speech-Language-Hearing Association

Daniela Berrios and Molly Smeal, two audiology professionals from the University of Miami Health System, received the Distinguished Early Career Professional (ECP) certificate from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).The award was created by ASHA to recognize and identify ECPs in the fields of audiology and speech-language pathology who are making an impact in the areas of leadership, volunteering, or advocacy at the local, state, and/or national level. Maryland's UCEDD Faculty Takes on Social Inclusion as Social Justice

Human Development Center Supports Developmental Screening for Over 600 Young Children

The state serves over 50,000 children (birth to 4-years) in publicly funded childcare. HDC's Early Childhood Initiatives staff build the capacity of current and future developmental surveillance, screening and referral efforts by early childhood care and education providers by collaborating with local Early Head Start programs through an Office of Head Start funded Community Childcare Partnership project. or the last six years, the American Indian Vocational Rehabilitation Training and Technical Assistance Center (AIVRTTAC) has played a vital role in supporting vocational rehabilitation personnel who help American Indians with disabilities obtain gainful and fulfilling employment. Now, thanks to another five-million-dollar, five-year cooperative agreement awarded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, this important work can continue. The University of Kentucky Human Development Institute Digital Storytelling Initiative highlights the stories and lived experiences of people with disabilities. Interviews address multiple life experience living and working in the community. Most recently, the Vaccine Confidence and Access for People for People with Disabilities Initiative interviewed with people with disabilities about their vaccine experience and the importance of keeping our communities healthy. Missouri's adult abuse reporting system is complex and difficult to navigate for the mandated reportersand other professionals responsible for protecting individuals with disabilities. Current gaps in the system for reporting the abuse, neglect, or exploitation of individuals with disabilities creates barriers for securing their safety. Gaps in the system for reporting also make it difficult to ensure perpetrators of the abuse are held accountable for their actions. Read more...

The Ohio State University Nisonger Center received a $2.8 million CDC grant to help improve lives of adults with disabilities in Ohio

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has awarded a $2.8 million, 5-year grant to Ohio State's Nisonger Center, which is part of the Wexner Medical Center, College of Medicine, Office of Health Sciences and Neurological Institute. This funding will support efforts to improve the health of adults with mobility limitations as well as adults with intellectual disabilities in Ohio. Read more...

ECHO Autism: Training Community Clinicians to Provide Quality Care for Adults on the Autism Spectrum

MMI Contributes to Study on Whole Genome Sequencing

A new collaboration between Va-LEND, UCEDD, LEND-Pitt, and the University of ConnecticutUCEED & LEND will occur over the next 5-year grant cycle. The EarlyChildhood Partnerships (ECP) initiative, is an expansion of a pilotprogram that was conducted in previous years between LEND-Pitt and VA-LEND.In years one through five of the grant, trainees from each organization who are interested in early childhood will gather virtually. Read more...

Getting and Keeping Iowa ON-TRAC for Health

Last year, Iowa's UCEDD was awarded a community-based transition planning grant from the Administration for Community Living (ACL). This grant allowed the UCEDD to lead a partnership of service providers, representatives of state agencies and organizations, self-advocates, and youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to review and analyze health care transition services in Iowa, and to produce an action plan with ready-to-implement solutions. Louisiana LEND Scholar Receives Fellowship Position at RWJF
