Connectivity Kits at Texas Center for Disability Studies

September 2, 2021

The Texas Technology Access Program, within the Texas Center for Disability Studies at the University of Texas at Austin collaborated with the local Aging and Disability Resource Center (Capital Area Council of Governments) to assemble connectivity kits for persons with disabilities, older adults, and their caregivers. The intent is to reduce isolation while connecting people to their community and to telemedicine. Two versions of the kits are available for check-out (35-day loan): an Android version with a Samsung tablet and Google nest, and an Apple version with an iPad and Echo Show. Each kit contains other smart home devices such as a Ring doorbell and Phillips Hue lightbulbs, as well as devices for telemedicine: KardiaMobile, no contact thermometer, blood pressure cuff, and oximeter.
