Rural Institute Executive Director Moderates Together We Grow Forum
March 10, 2021
Together We Grow (TOG) is "a consortium of modern food and agriculture companies, NGOs, members of academia and the government who have united to focus on building a skilled, diverse and inclusive workforce to make American agriculture a leader for generations to come." AUCD is an original member of the Together We Grow consortium.
The agriculture industry is facing a workforce shortage. People with disabilities represent a large, untapped employee resource for agriculture-related training, mentorship and job-placement programs.
Marty Blair, Executive Director of the Rural Institute for Inclusive Communities at the University of Montana, will moderate a Together We Grow panel focused on disability inclusion in the food and agriculture sector.
The Together We Grow: Food for Thought Spring Series webinar will take place Tuesday, March 9, 2021, from 9-10 a.m. MDT. Click here to register for the Zoom event.
The discussion will focus on industry initiatives with Antonio Paixao from ADM and Philomena Satre from Land O'Lakes. Sarafaith Pekor will talk about engaging the next generation of talent through innovative programming and partnerships with her nonprofit, Seeds of Inclusion, and Becky Curran Kekula will share resources and perspective from Disability:IN.
Join us as we explore best practices and emerging strategies around disability inclusion in the food and agriculture sector.
