Westchester Institute for Human Development Leading the Way to Vaccinate People with IDD

March 15, 2021

A year ago we were trying to figure out what this virus was all about and how/if it would affect our lives. Now, just a year later, the Westchester Institute for Human Development began vaccinating people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities against this deadly virus. This was made possible through the tremendous work of WIHD to advocate for and persist in becoming an approved NY State vaccination site, turning our lobby into a state of the art vaccination site, training registrars and vaccinators, and assuring that people with IDD are in a vaccine priority category.

This week, through a partnership with the Westchester County Department of Health, WIHD received our first allocation of 200 vaccine doses and began getting shots in arms. WIHD is proud to be able to contribute to the effort to get everyone vaccinated.

All means all. News 12 Westchester was on site to report on the first day of vaccine distribution at WIHD:https://westchester.news12.com/westchester-institute-for-human-development-gives-covid-19-shot-to-people-with-severe-disabilities
