Kennedy Krieger Institute Launches Office of Health, Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity

Kennedy Krieger Institute announced today that it is launching the Office of Health, Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity (O-HEID). The Office is designed to promote the health and well-being of those who work, train, and receive services at the Institute through culturally relevant, evidence- and equity-based approaches that assure diversity and inclusion. Dr. Belcher will lead O-HEID and serve as the Institute's inaugural vice president and chief diversity officer. Read more...

Dr. Alan Cobo-Lewis Appointed to UMaine President's Council on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ME UCEDD)

MME UCEDD Director Dr. Alan Cobo-Lewis has been appointed by University of Maine President Joan Ferrini-Mundy to serve on a 30-member Council on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The President announced her intention to form the council on June 10, following the death of George Floyd, and in the context of protests nationwide and global reckoning on racism. Read more...

Grant Will Fund Potentially Game-changing PT study

The Munroe-Meyer Institute Department of Physical Therapy will take part in a nationwide study that may fundamentally shift the way PT is provided for young children at high risk for or diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Sandra Willett, PhD, director of the department, will be the site principal investigator of a five-year study evaluating Sitting Together And Reacting To Play, an intervention that incorporates play into PT treatment with the idea that key motor skills. The Center welcomes Dr. Eric Roberts as an Associate Research Scientist Eric Roberts received his doctoral degree from Texas A&M and has a wealth of experiences in transition education and services for individuals with disabilities. He taught secondary special education classes in the Houston area; coordinated the Youth Leadership Forum, LEAD, and PATHS projects during his time at the CDD; and he worked in the College Station Independent School District for the past six years as the Transition Coordinator and Instructional Coordinator.
