The institute seeks teams of researchers working at different levels of analysis and engaging in integrative, novel, and creative experimental approaches to address high-risk, high-impact biological questions with the primary goal being to significantly advance the state of the science in brain and behavior research relevant to mental health. The Centers will support collaborative, interdisciplinary research conducted at multiple levels of analysis from genes to behavior in humans, animals, and model systems. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, cellular, molecular, and genomic neuroscience, systems and cognitive neuroscience, basic behavioral science, and early phase drug discovery that includes model development directed towards preclinical testing.
