Employment Opportunities to Support the Act Early State and Territorial Team in Response to COVID-19
Applications Due July 6, 2020
In response to emerging needs resulting in part from COVID-19, a nationwide Act Early State/Territorial Team initiative focused on building resilience among families with young children served by early childhood systems is under development. These state/territorial teams will focus on parent-engaged developmental monitoring, screening, and referral initiatives to ensure that children with developmental delays are identified early and connected with services that can help them as early as possible. To support this effort, three new temporary positions are available at AUCD’s National Center on Disability in Public Health:

The COVID-19 outbreak impacts all communities across the US - including the over 61 million Americans who have disabilities. Approximately 1 in 4 Americans have a disability, yet state and local preparedness planning, mitigation and recovery efforts do not consistently include them. The new National Technical Assistance and Training Center on Disability Inclusion and Emergency Preparedness is a component of AUCD's National Center on Disability in Public Health and will address the needs of people with disabilities in COVID-19 state and local efforts, specifically to educate various audiences across the public health workforce, from medical, nursing and allied healthcare providers to public health practitioners, on including people with disabilities in emergency response efforts. To support this effort, three new temporary positions are available at AUCD’s National Center on Disability in Public Health:

Number of Awards: up to 56
Award Floor: a minimum of $75,000 per team
In Brief:
- A nationwide Act Early State and Territorial Team Initiative focused on building resilience among families with young children served by early childhood state systems is under development
- Funding and technical assistance for new State and Territorial Teams across the country focused on supporting early identification of developmental concerns and building resilience among families connected to early childhood state systems will be made available
- Act Early Ambassadors will be expected to lead or co-lead along with closely related public health partners these State and Territorial Teams
- A complementary competitive Act Early Ambassador RFA to achieve representation in all eligible States and Territories will be made available at the time of this funding opportunity
- Teams must include representation from specific programs/systems who will need to be engaged prior to proposal, each providing a brief statement of intended commitment to the team as part of the application

CDC's Considerations for Wearing Cloth Face Coverings
 CDC recommends that people wear cloth face coverings in public settings and when around people who don’t live in your household, especially when other social distancingmeasures are difficult to maintain. Cloth face coverings may help prevent people who have COVID-19 from spreading the virus to others. Cloth face coverings should NOT be worn by children under the age of 2 or anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance. The online toolkit serves to increase the capacity of public health professionals to create programs that benefit entire communities, including people who have disabilities.
