Learn the Signs. Act Early. AMCHP's State Systems Grant: Eight Years in Review

The Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP) is excited to announce the release of a new interactive resource called "Learn the Signs. Act Early. AMCHP's State Systems Grant: Eight Years in Review." This product presents a review of AMCHP's Learn the Signs. Act Early. (LTSAE) state systems grants, which are a part of the larger CDC LTSAE initiative. It also highlights the activities and outcomes of these grants and delves into the impacts on state systems of care and lessons learned.

This resource has three main objectives:

• Provide a historical context for LTSAE and the state systems grants
• Showcase specific strategies and implementation activities that resulted in significant impacts that could be adapted and/or replicated in other states or territories
• Address challenges faced, lessons learned, and sustainability best practices

The content presented in this product was compiled from an environmental scan that included a review of each grantee's applications, reports, and quarterly call summaries. Following the environmental scan, AMCHP created and administered a follow-up survey to measure the impact of the grant, sustainability concerns, and any other comments that were not captured in the reports. Report and survey content were then analyzed for common objectives.

Quantitative data from the environmental scan and survey are discussed, as well as a qualitative analysis of the same sources that led to the creation of three main areas of impact - or impact points. AMCHP also worked with 8 state systems grantees who successfully incorporated one of the impact points in their implementation activities and saw significant improvements in their state over the life cycle of the grant. State spotlights demonstrate how grantees formalized developmental monitoring and early identification as a priority, activated stakeholders and strengthened partnerships, and increased awareness among caregivers and providers
