Announcing the Institute for Human Development at Northern Arizona University's 2020 Evidence for Success Disability Conference Call-For-Presenters!

The annual IHD Evidence for Success Disability Conference reflects the individual projects and collaborative endeavors in disability disciplines at NAU's Institute for Human Development. With a legacy of over 20 years of annual conferences in Arizona, the Evidence for Success Disability Conference has become one of the premier disability related conference in Arizona drawing over 500 participants annually, many from other states and US territories.

The multi-faceted, multi-programmatic conference features over 70 educational sessions, an expansive exhibit hall showcasing state of the art assistive technology and community resources and, to encourage participation, has registration fees below other Arizona and national conferences. Attendees typically come from a variety of disciplines including educators, vocational counselors, therapists, students and consumers. IHD is proud that our conference garners high satisfaction levels and strong testimonials from attendees and exhibitors alike.

A 2019 attendee, for example, commented: "Every year this conference keeps impressing me; in size, and in just how nicely it flows. The quality of presenters has emerged to the point where I like coming here as much as any other state or national conference."

The 2020 conference will take place June 7-9, 2020 at the We-Ko-Pa Resort & Conference Center in Scottsdale / Fountain Hills, Arizona. We welcome participation AUCD members.

Importantly, we are currently seeking presentations that emphasize innovative, evidence-based approaches to issues affecting children and adults with disabilities across the broad areas of assistive technology, community inclusion, education and employment. Within these overarching categories, we welcome presentations that address a continuum of more specific sub-topics such as Competitive Integrated Employment (CIE), High Leveraged Practices in Special Education, cultural diversity, abuse and neglect, use of restraints and seclusion, Native American Vocational Rehabilitation, augmentative communication, AT in education and employment, accessibility and universal design, etc.

We are interested in sharing and learning ways of putting effective, evidence-based approaches as well as more formal research outcomes into practices that result in improved services, supports and outcomes for persons with disabilities across the life span.

The conference provides multiple formats for sharing and learning. Options include professional development pre-conference workshops, general conference mini-workshops, concurrent presentations or panel sessions, roundtable discussions and posters.

Proposals are due by Monday, January 13, 2020. Applicants will be notified of their proposal status in early February.
