The Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities Hires Another Staff Attorney (MD UCEDD)

November 4, 2019

On October 1, 2019, the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities (MCDD), hired staff attorney Tracy Waller, Esq., MPH as part of the receipt of a three-year grant from the Administration for Community Living (ACL).

Tracy is a licensed attorney in Maryland and the District of Columbia. She "rejoins" the MCDD after volunteering as an attorney with Project HEAL (Health, Education, Advocacy, and Law) in 2017 where she provided information, advocacy and legal services for the families of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) who are patients at Kennedy Krieger Institute. She previously worked as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Lawrence P. Fletcher-Hill in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. Tracy earned her master's degree in public health from the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University and her Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law.

As the primary objective of the ACL grant, the MCDD, along with its seven partners, seeks to establish a Center for Dignity in Healthcare for People with Disabilities (CDHPD). Tracy will lead the gap analysis of legal policies related to medical discrimination and along with the MCDD's director, Maureen van Stone, facilitate connections with other medical-legal partnerships across the country. Tracy will help in the establishment of healthcare discrimination advocacy resources and protocols for families and individuals with ID/DD as well as helping with the creation of anti-discrimination policies for medical organizations, hospitals, and public entities. The MCDD is thrilled to have Tracy join their team!
