September 23, 2019

This book features 30 former refugee individuals from 17 different countries of the world who made State of Vermont as their second home after being evicted from their original homelands.

Three of the 30 individuals have been closely associated with VT LEND program. Bidur Dahal from Bhutan and Fatuma Bulle from Somalia are VT LEND Alumni.  In addition to being an alumni, Bidur is currently a VT LEND staff working as an Education Coach - Outreach Professional and an active member of the VT LEND's Health Disparity and Cultural Competency Committee (HDCCC). Fatuma Bulle also worked as VT LEND's Family Resource Coordinator for 3 years. Rita Neopaney, a former Bhutanese refugee, is also the active member of the HDCCC.

The book "Suddenly You Are Nobody" written by author Jared Gange contains the stories of the lived refugee experiences, challenges and fear of living in a new country; proof of resilience possessed by the families and individuals during the hard times and the successes they have achieved when given an opportunity to live as a free and equal human being. The cost of the book is $19.95. Contact author Jared Gange at [email protected]; phone: 802-660-3605 if anyone is interested to get a copy of the book.
