AUCD's LEND and DBP programs have a strong history of collaborating to achieve common goals alongside Act Early Ambassadors. Many of these programs have found creative ways to engage trainees/fellows with the work of their state's Act Early Ambassador. In the spirit of supporting and strengthening these relationships, we want to share with you this document containing the work plan goals for Ambassadors across the country so that you can see what the Ambassador in your state is working on.

Backround Information:
The Act Early Ambassador Program is funded through an AUCD-CDC cooperative agreement with the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities/CDC. Act Early Ambassadors work with CDC's "Learn the Signs. Act Early." (LTSAE) program to improve early identification of developmental delays and disabilities, including autism, by:

  • Promoting the adoption and integration of LTSAE resources and materials to support developmental monitoring in systems that serve young children and their families
  • Serving as a state or territorial representative of CDC's national LTSAE program
  • Supporting the work of Act Early Teams and other state/territorial or national initiatives to improve early identification of developmental delay and disability

Act Early Ambassadors contribute to the improvement of early childhood systems in their states by embedding developmental monitoring practices and integrating LTSAE messaging and materials. We know that developmental monitoring plays an important role in identifying potential delays and discussing concerns early with a provider. We also know that early intervention positively impacts outcomes across developmental domains. Act Early Ambassadors expand the reach of the "Learn the Signs. Act Early." program in championing their state's work toward improving early identification.
