2019 AUCD Board Elections: Nominations Requested

AUCD is currently seeking nominations for the following positions to the AUCD Board of Directors, for a three-year term beginning at the 2019 AUCD Conference in November:
- Two (2) At-Large members
- Meet the current members of the AUCD Board of Directors
- One (1) Emerging Leader Board member
- This is a new, voting position on the Board. Please see the full description of the new Emerging Leader Board member including the responsibilities to understand more about this new position.
Candidate Eligibility
At-Large Member Candidate Eligibility
- Must be a UCEDD, LEND, or IDDRC Director, Associate Director, or other senior staff with substantial programmatic and budgetary responsibilities of an AUCD member organization
- Demonstrate leadership within their center and community
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion
- Be willing to serve on the AUCD Board
- Have the support of their member program for the time and financial costs related to Board participation
- The Board generally meets face-to-face three times each year. One of these meetings is held in conjunction with the fall AUCD Conference.
- Participate in bi-monthly Board conference calls
- Participate on Board committees, which may also meet monthly via separately scheduled conference calls
Emerging Leader Member Candidate Eligibility
- Must be:
- a current trainee from an AUCD member site with a minimum of one year of experience at a member site at the time of election; or
- an early career professional currently working at an AUCD member site and someone who is within five years of their traineeship, including self-advocates and family members, or completion of a relevant advanced degree in any health or related discipline.
- willing to serve on the Board.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Emerging Leaders Community and the larger AUCD network.
- Have the support of their member program for the time and financial costs related to Board participation
- The Board generally meets face-to-face three times each year. One of these meetings is held in conjunction with the Fall AUCD Conference.
- AUCD is committed to supporting this position with funds if needed.
- Participate in bi-monthly Board conference calls
- Participate on Board committees, which may also meet monthly via separately scheduled conference calls
Nominate an Individual
Please use the forms at right to nominate an individual for either a Board At-Large positions or the Emerging Leader position. Before making a nomination, please ensure potential nominees are (1) willing to serve on the AUCD Board for the specified term and (2) have the financial support of their center to travel to meetings (or have communicated with AUCD about the need for potential financial support). A separate form must be completed for each individual nominated. Self-nominations are accepted and encouraged. The AUCD Board specifically encourages nominations of people from underrepresented backgrounds.
All nominations for both positions will be reviewed by the Board Nominating Committee that is chaired by the AUCD Board Past-President and consists of both Board and network members. Once the Nominating Committee has determined a slate of candidates, those individuals will be asked to complete a brief bio-sketch regarding the potential candidate's vision for AUCD and their leadership and commitment to diversity and inclusion. These statements, as well as a curriculum vitae and photo, will be posted alongside the final slate of candidates on the election website that will go out to Directors for voting in late September.
We encourage participation in this process so that an excellent slate of candidates can be presented to the Association membership for election.
