GU UCEDD Annual Conference and Celebration

Georgetown University UCEDD Annual Conference and Celebration The Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development held its annual conference on June 14. The Conference presenter was Debra Leach, EdD from Winthrop University. Dr. Leach presented, Bringing ABA to Home, School, and Play for Young Children with ASD and Other Disabilities. In addition to the Conference the UCEDD joins the GU Certificate in Early Intervention in honoring the 2018-2019 graduates as well as celebrating the awarding of the Geraldine P. Waldorf, Making a Difference Award to Marisa Brown for her life-long commitment to the residents of DC with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities and their families.

The conference also highlights the success of the Certificate Program participants. The 2019 Birthday Award was presented to Elle Russell for her poster Wellness Needs of Early Childhood Intervention Personnel. The Annual Conference is hosted by the DC Triad, which consists of the Georgetown University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, the DC Developmental Disability Council, University Legal Services, and the P&A for the District of Columbia. The Quality Trust has also been a long time co-sponsor of the event. Participants included GU CEI alumni, UCEDD faculty, and service providers from the DC area. The day-long conference and celebration is the culminating activity for the Certificate Program and the UCEDD!

The Certificate in Early Intervention prepares evidence-based service providers and professional leaders to advocate for infants, toddlers, and young children with disabilities or delays to receive community-based services and supports.
