Leadership Transitions at the UCEDD in Bronx NY

As of January 2019 Joanne Siegel, LCSW became Co-Director (previously Associate Director) and Karen Bonuck, PhD became Director (previously Co-Director) of the UCEDD, which is based in the Rose F. Kennedy Children's Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center (RFK CERC). Ms. Siegel, who is a Principal Associate (faculty) in the Department of Pediatrics at Einstein College of Medicine-Montefiore Medical Center moves to this new leadership role after 40+ years at RFK CERC.

Ms. Siegel has extensive clinical, policy, community education and advocacy experience in the field of IDD. She serves on many governmental policy committees. Recently she was awarded a grant from the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry to pilot a study on enhancing medical school education curriculum at Einstein College of Medicine for people with IDD.Dr. Bonuck is a Professor in the Departments of Family and Social Medicine, and Pediatrics. She has extensive expertise in NIH and HRSA funded research in pediatric sleep, feeding, and child maltreatment, and is the author of more than 80 peer-reviewed publications. Since joining the UCEDD in 2016, Dr. Bonuck has bolstered its research and evaluation capacity and aims to work toward the center's development of a medical legal partnership
