Maureen Van Stone, Esq., MS, Named as Kennedy Krieger Institute's Director for the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities (MD UCEDD)

Maureen Van Stone, Esq., MS, Named as Kennedy Krieger Institute's Director for the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities (MCDD) effective December 17, 2018. Maureen earned a bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Southern California, a master's degree in developmental psychology at The Johns Hopkins University, and a Juris Doctor at Whittier Law School, with a concentration on children's legal issues. She holds an adjunct faculty position at Towson University.

Prior to law school, Maureen worked as a clinician on the Neurobehavioral Unit in the Department of Behavioral Psychology at Kennedy Krieger for six years. After receiving her law degree, Maureen returned to Kennedy Krieger as Director of Project HEAL, currently Maryland's only Medical-Legal Partnership. In 2009, Maureen accepted the position of associate director for the MCDD. Since July 2018, she has been serving as the interim director. Maureen's contributions to the disability community include how advocacy and legal issues affect individuals with disabilities across the lifespan.

Her extensive knowledge of the education system for the children with disabilities and her passion towards advocacy and inclusion and commitment to creating partnerships will serve the MCDD and the Institute well as we move forward.
