Time for Gratefulness and Celebration at the UA Sonoran UCEDD

December 17, 2018

On Nov. 8, we had a wonderful time celebrating the accomplishments of University of Arizona Sonoran UCEDD's founding director, Leslie J. Cohen, and welcoming the center's new director, Wendy Parent-Johnson! Members of our community, partner agencies, advocates, faculty, and staff gathered to celebrate.

Leslie was honored with gifts from the UA Department of Family and Community Medicine's Administration as well as from the Sonoran UCEDD staff and faculty. Some of her parting gifts included art from the UCEDD's program, Artworks.

As we bid farewell to Leslie, Mya Muramoto, professor and chair of the UA Department of Family and Community Medicine's, introduced and welcomed Wendy. Wendy took the opportunity to thank Leslie for her leadership and addressed those gathered at the event.

We look forward to continue, under Wendy's new direction, to focus on the issues of health, wellness, employment and community inclusion for adults with developmental and other disabilities.
