August 28, 2017

Karen Flippo, a program director at the ICI, received a lifetime achievement award from APSE, a national organization that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to work at competitive jobs in their communities. Flippo was a founding board member of APSE (which stands for the Association of People Supporting Employment First).

The award recognized her role in launching the organization, as well as her leadership and impact in the field of employment and inclusion for people with disabilities. Flippo received the award on June 20, at APSE's annual conference in Portland, Oregon. "I have been privileged to have met and worked with so many outstanding people throughout my career who have been my teachers and inspiration," said Flippo, who is planning to retire this fall. "The award from APSE is the highest honor I could have ever hoped to receive because it is from an organization I respect and love. I am deeply grateful." Congratulations to Karen Flippo on this national honor!
