Shelly Baer Receives Impact Award from Parent to Parent of Miami (FL UCEDD/LEND)

Shelly Baer, LCSW, Director of Leadership Training Initiatives at Mailman Center for Child Development in the Department of Pediatrics, won the Impact Award from Parent to Parent of Miami. The goal of Parent to Parent of Miami's Journey of Dreams Benefit is to honor individuals in our community who are dedicated to improving and promoting initiatives that benefit children and adults with disabilities and their families. Individuals are honored in the following categories: Excellence in Family Advocacy, IMPACT, and Family Empowerment. The IMPACT Award is bestowed to an individual who Inspires, Motivates, Promotes, Advocates, and through Community involvement became a Transformational leader. Ms. Baer coordinates the Emerging Transformational Leadership Program (ETLP) and Project Self-Advocate Leadership Training (SALT). She also works with a team to oversee components of the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) training program for graduate students at Mailman Center. She is dedicated to helping trainees, young adults with disabilities and early to mid-level professionals reach their leadership potential and create system level change for the disability community. The annual Journey of Dreams Benefit helps them raise funds to provide much needed help, hope and support for children with disabilities and their families.
