TGeorgetown University National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC) was awarded a new project funded by the Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities - a Diversity Community of Practice. The project is funded through a Cooperative Agreement for five years (9/1/16- 8/31/21).
The project has two primary objectives.
- To create and implement a multifaceted Community of Practice (CoP) designed to facilitate peer exchange, share information, provide technical assistance, and leverage resources to increase diversity and advance cultural and linguistic competence in state/territorial DD systems.
- To integrate content from a proven curriculum (Georgetown Leadership Academy ©) into a multi-state/territory CoP model designed to foster leadership for system transformation.
The NCCC will collaborate with a wide array of stakeholders and partners to implement the CoP. A total of 10 states/territories will be selected to participate in this transformative experience over the five-year grant cycle. Attached is an abstract which offers additional details.
The NCCC is in the early start up phase of the CoP. Project faculty will convene a National Advisory Committee in the upcoming weeks, and our faculty welcome your interest in serving.
