What's New in the AUCD 2016 Conference Agenda

May 1, 2016

We're listening to your feedback! The AUCD 2016 Conference agenda looks a little different than previous years - check out some of the changes we've made, and be sure to make your travel plans accordingly so you don't miss exciting events.

  • Driving Change Sessions: Sunday 12/04 9am
    • Discover how you can drive change on the national, state, local, and personal level! Extremely popular in 2015, these exciting sessions provide an interactive learning and sharing environment. In 2016, five sessions will cover disability topics across the lifespan. Hear from and share ideas with leaders from around the network on successes and best practices in the areas of visibility and reach; policy, practice, and research; network engagement and leadership development; funding; and diversity, inclusion, and equity. These sessions are free, and all registered conference attendees are welcome to attend.
  • Conference Kickoff: Sunday 12/04 6pm
    • In an effort to bring attendees together right from the start, the AUCD 2016 Conference will kick off with a welcome reception for all attendees on Sunday evening. Come, meet new friends, network with colleagues, and enjoy light snacks and drinks. Everone is invited, so be sure your travel plans get you there early!
  • Opening Plenary: Monday 12/05 8:30a
    • We've moved the opening plenary to Monday morning! AUCD 2016 will open with thought provoking and energetic speakers who will set the stage for the next three days of discussions and learning.
  • Poster Symposia: Monday 12/05 2-6pm
    • All posters for the AUCD 2016 Conference will be presented on Monday afternoon in a series of poster symposia. We will continue to accept the same number of posters for the conference, and presenters will have an opportunity for greater interaction with individuals to share their work.
  • Monday Evening: 12/05 5pm
    • By moving the welcome reception to Sunday and putting all posters in a symposium format that will end by 5pm, we were able to free up desirable evening time. Get in additional networking time with friends and colleagues, see the sights of Washington DC by night and enjoy the local nightlife!
  • Hill Visits: Wednesday 12/07
    • Educating members of Congress on the issues important to you and the families you work with is a vital part of your work. Take time while in DC to make an appointment with your legislator and begin creating relationships that will make a difference. Time is set aside on Wednesday afternoon for this purpose and AUCD staff will be available to assist you if needed.
