2016 SDBP Meeting Scholarships for DBP Trainees

Application Deadline: August 22

August 1, 2016

AUCD is pleased to announce the availability of two (2) scholarships of up to $500 each to support DBP trainees in attending the Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (SDBP) Meeting on September 16-19, 2016 in Savannah, GA.

Eligibility

All current DBP trainees at any MCHB-funded DBP training program are eligible to apply. However, priority will be given to trainees that have not attended the SDBP Meeting in previous years.

Receiving Funds

Trainees (or their program) are expected to pay all costs associated with their meeting attendance upfront and in their entirety. Awardees must fulfill all responsibilities (see items below) and submit a proper reimbursement form and relevant receipts to AUCD not later than 30 days after the end of the meeting, or October 30, 2016. This is a firm deadline and submission of expenses after this date may result in an awardee not receiving the scholarship funds. The reimbursement form and submission instructions will be provided to awardees upon notification.

Allowable Expenses

Scholarship funds can be used to cover the costs of meeting registration, coach class air or reasonable ground travel, hotel accommodations, food, and any related presentation materials (e.g. poster printing and shipping). AUCD reserves the right to deny reimbursement requests for items on a case by case basis.  Alcoholic beverages are not an allowable expense under any circumstances.

Awardee Responsibilities

All awardees will be required to attend two events on Saturday, September 17: the "New Member / First Time Attendee Reception" from 4:30pm - 5:00pm and the "Trainee / Recent Graduate Workshop" from 6:30pm - 8:00pm. Awardees will also be asked to write a brief narrative (approximately one page) about their experience and its impact; instructions for this assignment will be provided by AUCD staff in the weeks immediately following the SDBP Meeting. Finally, awardees will be called upon during the 2016-2017 training year to review and provide feedback on drafts of new trainee orientation resources being developed by AUCD for its entire network. The perspective of current DBP trainees will help make these materials (brochures, video clips, etc.) as valuable and responsive as possible.

How to Apply

Interested trainees are required to submit a brief online application form along with three attachments:

  1. this completed interest statement (download, complete, and upload into the "proposal/project description" field),
  2. a current brief resume or CV (2 pages), and
  3. a letter of support from your DBP training program director.

Applications must be completed through the online system; no other submissions will be accepted.
