Thank You, Interns!

August 3, 2016

This summer, AUCD was fortunate to have two amazing interns in our office. Toby Henley is a recent student at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Through BroadFutures, a program that helps young adults between the ages of 18 and 26 with learning disabilities gain workforce skills, Toby worked with AUCD for seven weeks this summer. Caitlin Chasar is earning her Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling from Edinboro University. She was able to work at AUCD through the AAPD Internship Program, which matches college and graduate students who have all types of disabilities with a variety of Congressional, federal, for-profit, and non-profit organizations during the summer.

Toby and Kate have been a welcome addition to the AUCD team, helping with everything from organizing documents and files to providing assistance across all departments to assisting with the 26th anniversary celebration of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. Their willingness to try new things and cheerful demeanor has quickly made both of them invaluable to the summer operations of AUCD, and it has been a joy to watch them grow in their skills, confidence, and leadership. We greatly appreciate their contributions to the AUCD office and network, and are excited about what the future holds for both Kate and Toby. Thank you!
